Day 2: Explore the Pyramids & the Grand Egyptian Museum & the Holy Family Churches

Breakfast at the hotel then enjoys your tour to visit one of the seven wonders of the ancient world the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) Three small pyramids You will continue to explore the rest of the Giza plateau including the sight of Khafre’s (Kafren) pyramid - Khufu's son, the second-largest pyramid on Giza site, the remains of the funeral temple, the pyramid of Mankawra (Mykerinus) and 3 small pyramids.

Then proceed to visit the Great Sphinx, the head of a pharaoh with a lion's body which dates from the time of Chephren the tour also includes a visit to the Valley Temple, which belongs to the pyramids of Chefren This temple served two functions: First, it was used for the purification of the mummy of the king before its burial. Second, it was used for making the Mummification process of the king. After visiting the pyramids, proceed to have your lunch at a local restaurant then move to The Grand Egyptian Museum the world's largest Archaeological Museum dedicated to a single civilization. The collection consisting of King Tutankhamun's tomb and tens of thousands of other rare and unique archaeological finds has found a new home in a museum built on the plateau of the pyramids of Giza. The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is one of the mega national projects that is a great addition to Egyptian tourism and international cultural and media tourism. It reflects the extent of Egyptian international cooperation, as it is considered one of the largest civilizational and archaeological projects in the world, and the largest museum in the world dedicated to one civilization, which is the ancient Egyptian civilization. After that head to the Coptic Cairo or as Egyptian call it (Old Cairo) contained within the boundaries of the Roman fortress of Babylon where the Copts built their churches for protection. For three hundred years, from the conversion of Emperor Constantine until the arrival of Islam, Egypt was a Christian nation, and the Coptic church is one of the oldest communions as well as the church that really pioneered austere monasticism in the remote desert. There are still tens of thousands of Copts in Egypt, many of whom live in Old Cairo. Their most famous church is that of El Muallaqa, the Hanging Church, built over one of the gateways into the old fortress, its nave suspended above the passageway. Also in Old Cairo the Saint's Sergius church has The Crypt where the Holy Family took shelter during their flee to Egypt, also there is the synagogue of Ben Ezra. (Under restoration) Once home to many Jewish families, few now remain scattered throughout Cairo. There has been a religious building on this site (initially a church, then a synagogue) since at least the 4th century, and the present synagogue houses a Torah on gazelle skin that dates to the 5th century BC. This whole area is a world-famous destination for Pilgrims, and after that back to your Hotel in Cairo.

Day 3: The Exodus Route - Tanis Ruins the Land of Goshen & Moses Springs-Saint Catherine's Monastery

Breakfast at the hotel in Cairo, then check out to start your journey to the land of Goshen the ruins of Tanis the capital of ancient Egypt during the Ramassied period and is believed ‎that Moses lived and grow up in their Land of Goshen. GOSHEN (Heb. גֹּשֶׁןa), is a grazing area in lower Egypt, east of the Delta. Goshen was the residence assigned to Jacob and his family, and it was there that the Israelites lived in Egypt (Gen. 45:10; Ex. 9:26). The name (Land of Goshen) is only mentioned in the Bible and not Egyptian documents. The cities Pithom and Pi-Rameses, two fortified cities the Hebrews built before the Exodus, (Ex. 1:11) however, have been found. The Austrian Institute excavated the ruins of Pithom and found the remains of some temple buildings and grain stores. Pi-Rameses is important because the Egyptians moved their capital from Memphis to Pi-Rameses in the 14th century B.C. because of the threats coming from the east. Pi-Rameses was the capital of Egypt in the time of Moses. In the same region, the ruins have been found of Tanis, the capital of Pharaoh Sheshonk I [Shishak in the Bible] (935-914 B.C.) who plundered the temple of Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 12:9). Some researchers speculate he may have taken the Ark of the Covenant to this city.

Day 4: Climbing Mount Sinai & Visit to Saint Catherine's Monastery

The earliest description refers to the Monastery of the Holy Virgin, for the revelation of God at the Burning Bush was seen as a type of the Virgin Mary and the Incarnation. The monastery is also especially dedicated to the holy prophets Moses and Elias, who both came to this mountain and who both spoke with Christ at the Transfiguration. More recently, it has been known as Saint Catherine’s Monastery. This remains its name today, though the monastery has not lost its earlier dedications, after this spiritual visit back to your hotel. Overnight.

 

Day 5: From Sinai To Cairo

After your breakfast at the hotel check out then head back to Cairo by vehicle about 6 hours driving upon arrival to Cairo check in your hotel in Cairo.
